We picked up our camper trailer on the 9 June 2011 a Jayco Eagle. It has a double bed on one end and a queen sized bed on the other end. The little kitchen has a sink, a fridge, a stove top and a grill. We bought the camper trailer hoping that it would allow us to go away more frequently on the weekends without having to try to cramp everything into the car.
So on a very very cold Queens Birthday long weekend we packed up the camper trailer and headed to Nagambie Lakes which is about 1.5 hours out of Melbourne.
It is wine country with lots of wineries like Chateau Tahblik and Mitchelton around (not that we got a chance to get to the wineries). The kids loved the huge jumping pillow and the playground that was right on the Loddon river.

The jumping pillow was a real hit. |
The camper trailer was very comfortable although a little bit squishy as it was too cold for the kids to be playing outside when I tried to cook dinner in the 'galley' ( I knew we should have got the biggest van possible !). First night was fish and chips and second night was curried sausages. The girls made themselves right at home and we had Eloise in with mummy and Abbey with Daddy.
The girls peeking out over the bed in the camper trailer...they slept very well. |
It was absolutely freezing and the little portable heater came in very handy but having to go to the toilet in the middle of the night was not fun ! There is a great little cafe at the park right on the water called Chinaman's Bridge cafe where Eloise enjoyed her baby chino and her pancakes. Cold it was, but the girls were well rugged up and loved it.
