Abbey's Kinder Orientation Day

After spending the last two years tagging along to kinder with Eloise on drop off and pickups, it was finally time for Abbey to start 3year old kinder .... well go to the orientation session anyway as she is not allowed to actually start until she turns 3 in April.
Somebody was very proud to be heading to kinder
Getting a reassuring hug from her big sis
However, as Abbey has been to the kinder so many times before and she was accompanied to her orientation day by her sister, it did feel like she was just there to drop her sister off and I don't think she actually realises that this is now her kinder session!

Portarlington

It feels like we've only just come back from the Christmas holidays but yet there is another long weekend that awaits us ... the Australia Day long weekend .... and nobody is complaining.

We headed down to Portarlington and stayed on the beach at the Bellarine Bayside Park.  It was right on the foreshore with plenty of trees for shade and not too far from town which was perfect for a leisurely stroll or scotter ride.

Portarlington pier ... checking out all the boats
Portarlington beach, right in front of where we stayed
We were joined by the Bees and Williams family so there were plenty of kids to hang out with.

Abbey was delighted to have Zoey to hang out with whilst Eloise would split herself between playing with the boys or the younger girls - ahh the best of both worlds!

The kids are now all quite adept on their scooters including Abbey and Zoey and they got a fair work out over the weekend.
Scooters having a rest
There was also plenty to drink and eat

Getting crowded at the milk shake station ....
The kids obviously did not starve ...

There's a new playground in Eltham!

Finally, there is a new playground in Eltham where the equipment is a little fancy (bit like Wombat Bend).   There's a flying fox and a wizzy dizz thing but the kids loved getting muddy in the huge sandpit as there is running water available !

We caught up for a Friday night BBQ with some of Eloise's kinder friends who all have younger sisters the same age as Abbey.

It looks like the next lot of kinder kids are coming through just as the older ones head to school.  Abbey is very chuffed to have now made friends with her sisters' friends' younger sibblings
The new breed ... Abbey (who is too busy trying to get more water out), Zoe, Bella and Eva

Otway Fly

We took a day trip to Otway Fly which was about an hour or so from Apollo Bay.  We wound our way through some beautiful rainforest to get there and the girls were in awe of the rainforest and tried to search out some animals as we drove through.

At Otway Fly you can zipline through the trees (which we took a miss on given the girls age) but we did do the tree-top walk which a walk through the canopy of the rainforest.  To get to the tree tops we had to first weave our way through the rainforest where there were some dinosaurs lying in wait for us.

The girls had no fear walking so high up in the tree tops.  At about 50 metres above ground, I was feeling quite queasy looking down but the girls instead of being a little  weary walking on the high platforms through the trees, were jumping up and down trying to create some shaking motion.
