Melbourne Cup Day

We had a last minute and impromptu family lunch at our place on Melbourne Cup.  It was a good chance for us to catch up with Aunty Vivienne who was in town.

There was of course a sweep and guess who won it .... yup Abbey and Eloises' and therehorses came 1st and 2nd respectively and there were tears from Eloise as she came to the realisation that her sister's horse had beaten her by literally the tip of a nose in what was the closest Melbourne Cup race in history.

The race did stop the nation and the kids (for a little while) but they were naturally more interested in playing outside.
