At 18 months she still only has four teeth, 2 at the bottom and 2 at the top. But that does not stop her from biting into small hard objects like almonds. Even though mummy worries that it might be a choking hazard, Abbey refuses to give it up because she has to have what her big sister is having.
She is forever trying to keep up with her big sister. And she never walks but runs.
"Wait for me ! " |
Abbey at 16 months had mastered a number of words including mumma, daddad, jeh jeh (big sister), poh poh, din din (gung gung), ball, baby, mah (horse), cho cho (pig), hippopo (hippo), sock, poo poo and has perfected the art of saying 'no' which can be yelled at the top of her lungs or accompanied by the waving of her arms like the robots in Lost in Space ! She could also tell us that she has done a poo by pointing to her nappy and saying 'poo poo'. However, more often than not, there would not actually be any poo poo and she just smiles as she knows that she has tricked you and made you look !
At 18 months, she has also added more words to her vocabulary including "more", "cheese stick", "chicken" (her favourite food); "nana (banana)" "sleep", "night night", "sit". Her ability to imitate has really developed and she does seem to know what is going on around her. On 4 October 2011, she put together her first two words when she heard Daddy going into the bathroom by saying "Dad Dad wee wee" and then this was followed by "Dad Dad Poo Poo" when after 5 minutes daddy still had not come out of the bathroom !
Abbey has a shocking temper and may be due to her not being able to sound out some words to communicate her needs. So quite often she will point and grunt at things at get extremely upset if you don't understand what she wants. When she wants something she will clap her hands together as if to say 'quick quick'. And if she does not get what she wants she will throw a tantrum or hit her own head.
She has also taken to hitting, kicking and pulling her sister's hair at most opportunities she gets. Poor Eloise!
Abbey is a very sociable creature and whenever she is out and about will go up to strangers by touching them and then giving them a charming smile. However, she can be a bit of a bully with other toddlers and would if given a chance take their toys and then make a run for it.
There is also a bad habit that she has developed which we all hoped that she will grow out of fairly soon. If you are wearing glasses and she is being carried by you, she will if given half the chance she will rip the glasses off your face and throw them. And her reflexes are extremely quick.
Poor Gung Gung has had his glasses ripped off by Abbey |
