She had refused most of her lunch and therefore when it came around to dinner time, Abbey was a little hungry hippo. She could not wait for dinner to be served properly and had devoured most of hers before mummy could finish serving up dinner for the rest of the family !
At 18 months, Abbey is still a fairly fussy eater. Breakfast is either weetbix or porridge with stewed fruit. Lunch is normally half an avocado, cheese stick, fruit and her favourite ...poached chicken. And if she can fit it in then some vegemite sandwiches. This is followed by a large bottle of milk before her nap. Dinner time is the hardest but safest bets are plain pasta, scrambled eggs, brocolli, lamb cutlets, boiled wontons, fried rice and of course if all else fails poached chicken. We know that she is not hungry if she refuses her chicken. Whilst it may sound like she eats a lot, the issue here is the lack of variety ... she just does not like to try new things and unless it is some sort of protein Abbey is just not that interested! At the moment brocolli and spinach hidden in some sort of meat is the only vegetable we can get her to eat and even with these two vegetables it is a hit and miss affair.
Mealtimes are still fraught with danger and mess....if the little missy may has decided that she does not like something or has had enough she will fling it of her high chair. So Abbey devouring her dinner that night without any fuss was an exception rather than a norm.
