Superheros

Superheroes gathered far and wide for Eloise's 5th birthday party at the Eltham North Adventure Playground.  First they had to find their capes (which by the way were laboriously handmade!).

Then it it was on to creating their own special cape crusader masks.

Once appropriately attired, only then could these pint sized superheroes leap over tall buildings .....

rush a cannon ball through multiple sets of legs ....

race at the speed of lightning whilst balancing an egg on a spoon ...

climb to death defying heights ...

capture the evil adults ...

and hold superpower summits ...

Off course, there was some superpower foods for sustenance.

And in true superhero style, there was a super-dense mudcake for the birthday girl.

Happy 5th birthday Eloise !

Skiing

Finally, it was a great season at the snow.  For the first time in years, there was lots and lots of snow with all lifts operating and you could even ski in and out from our lodge! We went up on the Sunday and stayed until Wednesday which meant that it was not so crowded.

It was Abbey's first time at the snow and she took to it like a duck to water.

During this trip Abbey and Zoey also really bonded as both were not yet old enough to ski and so got plenty of playtime together.
The new besties
We caught a bus up Bourke Street and the kids thought it would be hilarious to do some poses for the people on the lifts with Eloise and Dylan deciding it would be fun to do a 'snow moon' whilst Abbey and Zoey looked on in amusement.

The 'Snow Moon' for the benefit of the skiiers on the chairlift
Abbey appears amused with the mooning although Zoey looks a little disapproving!
Time to try to take each other's beanies off

Catching the lift back down
Kids discovered an abandoned igloo

It was Eloise's second time on skies and she did an all day lesson (could not convince her to do another lesson the next day).  However, we found that she got more out of going up and down Bourke Street with Brett.

After a hard day skiing it was time for some tobogganing .....

Abbey soon got the hang of it and insisted on going down by herself
Brett got plenty of exercise dragging Abbey up the hill after each slide down!
It was a great trip but check out how many bags we needed for two families for just three nights !

Lucas' Christening

We all got dressed up in our Sunday best for baby Lucas' christening and the girls were very excited to be looking prim and proper!

The christening was at a church in St Kilda and the reception was at Quat Quatta, an old mansion near Ripponlea.  Unfortunately, the girls still are not that great at keeping quiet during the church service and Abbey could not understand why she could not talk and kick the church pew in front of her ...luckily the service only went for half an hour!

The star of the show, baby Lucas and his parents Kon and Jacqui

At the reception the kids were kept very entertained drawing and creating a mess on the fine dining tables and jumping up and down on the antique furniture and belting out notes on the grand piano.  By the end of the day the prim and proper look had been abandoned by the girls, their shoes were kicked off because it made running too hard and Abbey's little Burbery dress was covered in cake icing and textas ! Here's hoping that Napisan works its magic in removing the stains !!

Everywhere that Eloise went ....

Everywhere that Eloise went, Abbey is sure to go ....  The girls have become inseperable of late with Abbey following her sister wherever she goes.
"Where are you going ?"
"Wait for me ..."
Eloise is very protective of Abbey and often calls her "bubba" and will not let anyone else call her little sister "bubba" because only she has earnt the right to do so ! Abbey meanwhile calls her big sister "Jeh Jeh".

Quite often after her nap, Abbey will call out for "Jeh Jeh"  and Eloise will race down to see her and climb into her cot to keep her company.
