Brett and I chanced upon this gorgeous hilltop town the last time we were in Italy and thought it would be a great place this time around for us to use as a base to explore Umbria.
This town has apparently been around since 1 BC and at every corner there is picture postcard scene with the steep, narrow and windy cobbled stone streets serving as a backdrop.
At every corner there was a photo opportunity not to be missed. It really is a picture postcard town.
Our house in Spello was literally a stone's throw from the town square and was previously an old woollen mill.

The delis around Spello were fantastic places to sample and shop for cheeses, salami and prosciutto. The girls love the wild boar prosciutto and the milder pecorino cheese!
| Too many to choose from ! |

Even more treacherous due to the loose gravel and rocks was the run from Spello towards Collepino on a narrow windy rocky track through the olive plantations next to the Roman Aqueduct, but the views were spectacular.
