Pamukkale, Turkey

The surreal white cotton terraces was what drew us to Pamukkale.  But the town itself near it, Denizli was a little, shall we dishevelled!

The white brilliant travertine terraces or cotton candy  and warm thermal pools is what draws the crowds to Pamukkale. The white travertine is limestone deposited by the abundant hot springs around.

But Pamukkale is also home to the well preserved Hierapolis ruins where you can still see colonnaded streets, templtes, bath houses, necropolis and the Greek-Roman's city theatre.  You can even bathe in the Antinque baths which are filled with warm (around 36 degrees) mineral rich waters and swim with submerged antique marble columns
