Zadar

Zadar was a very interesting city that had a great blend of the old and new.  Its old city was similiar to the other Croatian old cities we had visited such as Dubrovnik, Korcula and Trogir where the streets were shiny white marble and there is a main town square in the middle of the city.

Zadar also had the very impressive sea organs which are marble steps that double as an experimental musical instrument where music is played by sea waves and tubes located underneath the large marble steps.

Listening to the music .... Abbey is convinced it is the mermaids making the music

Another unusual piece of architectural piece of art work was the Greetings to the Sun which were thousands of glass solar panel plates that light up like a disco floor at night.  The kids loved coming down here at night and dancing on the glowing panels.

Zadar was also where we saw some very impressive sunsets

As with all the other Croatian towns we visited there is a fresh produce market where fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fish is sold.  It was a great place to shop for our meals.

Cheery season!
