Zagreb

We had a short three day stay in Zagreb and loved it! The city is really very liveable and we had one of the most gorgeous Air BnB apartments.  The girls just loved their room and the décor!

Parts of Zagreb very much reminded us of Melbourne with its buildings, malls and trams.

Zagreb's old town is divided into two, the Upper Town and Lower Town

They like their statues in Zagreb ... they are everywhere!

Zagreb was also quite quirky with its quirky museums like the Museum of Broken Relationships and the Museum of Naïve Art

In the Upper Town, there are lots of churches and museums including the stunning St Marks church with the Croatian coat of arms on its roof

So many attractions !  Which way?!?!

Walking around Zagreb on Saturday, we stumbled upon this festival in a park near our apartment where the locals were dressed in traditional costume listening to live Croatian music. The kids got into the swing of the festival and found some chalk to decorate the park's paths!

Abbey found a bike in front of the live band!
Zagreb is a city full of cafes and bars and it was very easy just sitting down for a coffee and a spot of people watching.

We also stumbled upon a Gay rights parade and the girls got a little bit of education on the subject!

The main square in Zagreb was a constant hub of activity and one night the locals were watching a live soccer game on the big screen (Croatia v Italy) on the big screen.  It was a closed match with no spectators allowed because Croatia had been banned from a match due to bad behaviour from the crowd at a previous game!
