Kamikochi

One of the main reasons why we had Takayama on our itinerary was to experience the Japan Alps.  Kamikochi was a day trip from Takayama and offered some of Japan's most spectacular mountain scenery.  It is only open during spring and autumn and shuts down during winter.   Kamikochi is beautiful and is a 15km long plateau in the Azusa River Valley and the best way to see it is, by doing a hike.
