Chinon

After a busy two weeks in Paris we were looking forward to something quieter in the Loire Valley.  Chinon was a quaint medieval city that was very picturesque.

We stayed in Chinon in a very unusual apartment that was part of the Chinon Castle walls. To get to the apartment you had to walk up 51 steps in a narrow tower.

The best part of our apartment was the garden and the view over the chimney tops of Chinon.
We loved the backyard of our Chinon apartment

After spending weeks in apartments without any backyards, the kids relished having a garden to play in.

We also had a number of meals outside where the kids decorated the table a la My Kitchen Rules and scored the meal out of 10!

The girls also loved our own private access to the Chinon fortress

France is a country full of chimneys and the girls loved having this one in our apartment in Chinon.

France's skyline is dotted with chimney pots
We also did a bit of cooking in Chinon
Beef Bourguignon for dinner!
