After weeks of none stop sight-seeing, the girls were a little exhausted but there was still so much to see in Kyoto!

Public transportation around Kyoto is mainly by bus, whereas in Tokyo it was the train (the Yamanote line). Today we caught the bus to see Ginkakuji (Silver Temple). Although titled the Silver temple (or pavilion) we found out that it is not really silver at all (unlike the Kinkakuji which did have a golden roof). There was however a beautiful moss garden and unique sand sculptures and gardens.

We then also checked out the Philosopher's Path which started near Ginkakuji. The Philosopher's path is a very nice stone 2km path along a canal in the Higashiyama district. The canal is lined by hundreds of cherry trees and during cherry blossom viewing season it is packed with people. The path got its name from one of Japan's most famous philosophers who used to practice meditation whilst he walked the path on his daily commute to Kyoto University.
