Colourful Burano

Our last full day in Venice turned out to be a beautiful sunny day without a cloud in a sky ... perfect for trip out to Burano, one of the islands outside of Venice.

Burano is a fishing village and is famous for its colourful house.  The story goes that in the days of old, the fisherman's wives painted them a bright colour so that their husband can identify their own homes from sea.  Burano is still a fishing village and they still continue to paint their houses a vibrant hue.

Burano had even more washing out than in Venice

We had lunch at Mazzorba, another little island that you can get to by crossing a bridge from Burano.  It was one of the best meals we've had in Italy, and we've had a few !!

Mazzorba was also a colourful island
The girls really loved the vibrant colours of Burano and Mazzorba and has put in a request for our house to be painted lolly pink and purple!
