Waterlillies, River Cruises and Huncbacks!

Another busy day in Paris ! We started bright and early (to avoid the crowds) at the Orangerie museum to see Monet's water lilies painting.  Eloise had previously been on a school excursion to see a Monet exhibition in Melbourne so she was very familiar with Monet and his works.
It was amazing to see Monet's work up close and even more amazing was how large the water lilies paintings were and the fact that two of the rooms at the Orangerie was purpose built to house the paintings and the two oval rooms were built following Monet's strict instructions.

There were also other pieces of artwork by Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso and Renoir to name a few. We loved that we could get so close to it and it was not crowded (perhaps because we had got there early). The girls had a great time with an Iphone each photographing all their favourite works !

We then headed to the Seine river for a boat cruise where we got to see many of Paris's landmarks from the river.  We caught the boat from Pont Neuf where there are so many locks on the bridge that the bridge is now at risk of collapsing!

Then it was a stroll to the Notre Dame cathedral where the kids were intrigued by the story of Quasimodo the hunchback bell ringer at the Notre Dame cathedral and the beautiful gypsy dancer, Esmeralda.
